Granite Vanity top- Installation Instructions

Major Steps
1.Before you begin
2.Trial Fit
3.Attach Under Mount Bowl to BSO Granite Vanity top
4.Seal Bowl and install Vanity top to the cabinet
5.Install Back & Side splashes

1.Before you begin (few items to be purchased separately)
i.Tools Required: (Available in major home improvement stores)
a)Calking Gun
b)Silicone Caulk
c)Adhesive (should be construction grade specifically designed for stone products equivalent to PL Premium Polyurethane Construction Adhesive)
d)Shims
ii.Under mount bowl: Purchase Oval shape Under mount bowl 17” X 14” or above from any home improvement store or online store. The cost of these bowls start anywhere from $25-$35 per piece

2.Trial Fit
i.Check to be sure that the vanity base cabinet is level and properly secured to the wall. Buy Stones Online recommends using shims in areas where there is not a solid point of contact or where the top is not level on the cabinet

ii.Wipe cabinet frame with a damp cloth to remove dust particles

iii. Trial fit vanity top, back & side splashes to ensure correct size and fit. Use care when handling vanity top to prevent damage to stone or cabinet

iv. If vanity cabinet is constructed with a frameless design, BSO recommends adding front and back rails as required to prevent the stone vanity top from bowing in the middle. Granite stone is heavy and requires adequate support

3.Attach Under Mount Bowl to BSO Granite Vanity top
i.Place granite vanity top polished side down on soft, scratch free surface

ii.Clean dust and foreign particles from underside of granite vanity top

iii.Unpack under mount bowl (to be purchased separately) and place it next to granite vanity top

iv.Align under mount bowl on bottom of granite vanity top with pre-cut hole

v.Use a pencil or marker to draw a line around the sink bowl
a)Note: Pencil or marker lines will act as a guide when applying adhesive and will aid in setting the bowl accurately

vi. Remove bowl and apply a continuous bead of adhesive approximately 3/8 inch in the caulking channel on the top side of the bowl

vii.Immediately place bowl in position and align with the center line of the pre-cut hole

viii. When the bowl is accurately aligned, allow adhesive to dry according to adhesive
manufacturer’s instructions. Usually, it is good to leave the bowl over the top overnight

ix.Clean excess adhesive from bowl and granite vanity top

4.Seal Bowl and install Vanity top to the cabinet

i.After the adhesive is dry, apply clear silicone to the outside edge of the bowl where it makes contact with the bottom side of the granite vanity top to seal the bowl from moisture penetration

ii.Use damp sponge to wipe away excess silicone caulk and smooth the finish line

iii.Install the faucet and the drain assembly according to the manufacturer’s instructions

iv.Wipe off the top of the vanity cabinet with a damp cloth to remove any dirt. Apply a generous (1/2”) bead of silicone around the top edges of the vanity cabinet

v.Carefully lower the top onto the vanity cabinet with a ½ inch extra on each side. In addition make sure that the shims stay in place

vi.Wipe away excess caulk and allow to dry according to the caulk’s manufacturer instructions

vii.Attach the drain pipe to the drain assembly. Attach the water supply lines to the faucet

5. Install Back & Side splashes

i.If back splash is to be installed, do so at this time. Test fit the back splash to determine proper fit, and which side will face out and which side will face the wall

ii.Wipe the bottom of the back splash and the top of the vanity with a damp cloth to remove any dust or dirt

iii.Apply urethane adhesive on unpolished side of back splash

iv.Place a 3/8-inch bead of clear silicone caulk on granite vanity top edge where back splash is to be located

v. Place unpolished edge of back splash on caulk and press gently against wall and down on to the granite vanity top. Move side to side to spread the adhesive evenly

vi.Bottom of the back splash should lay flat or be flush with the top of the granite vanity top

vii.Remove all excess caulk and clean with a soft cloth or sponge. Allow caulk to dry according to the manufacturer’s recommendations

viii. If side splashes are to be installed, follow steps (i-vii)

ix.Apply a thin bead of caulk around all of the joints, such as the one between the top of the back splash and the wall, the side splash and the wall, the vanity top and the back splash, and the vanity top and the side splash
a)Note: Walls may be uneven and create a slight gap between the wall and the back or end splash. Do not force or pressure the stone to straighten the wall. Fill gap with caulk
